The Pirates 2012 Spring Training schedule consists of 15 home games and will also feature an intrasquad "Black and Gold" game on Friday, March 2.

Single game tickets for all 15 of the Orioles Spring Training games at Ed Smith Stadium go on sale Saturday, January 28 at 10 a.m. ET. The Bridge Street Market
The three-year-old market, which feature vendors selling their fruit and vegetables, tea and honey, olive oil, seafood, local artwork, candles, unique handmade jewelry and more out of canvas-covered stalls, will run 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday now through April 29 at 107 Bridge Street, Bradenton Beach.

The Beach Market: Gulf Drive Cafe and Tiki Bar, 900 Gulf Drive N., Bradenton Beach
The Beach Market, a weekly market at the beach, will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sundays through Jan. 29 featuring vendors offering fresh produce, arts and crafts, jewelry, original artwork, apparel, purses, skin care, candles, holiday items, seafood, olive oil, fresh baked bread, food and more. Breakfast and lunch are availabe for purchase. Part of the proceeds will be donated to local charities. Information: 941-799-2181.

Longboat Key Pass Bridge construction begins
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin repairs to the Longboat Key Pass Bridge on State Road 789 from north of Northshore Road on Longboat Key to south Coquina Park in Bradenton Beach. The work is set to begin this week and continue through April 30, 2012. The construction will be ongoing throughout the day and nighttime hours with a suspension of activity from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2 and Jan. 13-17. A spokesperson for FDOT said nighttime temporary lane closures will be controlled by flaggers and there will be no lane closures Friday through Sunday. During the construction, motorists will have to follow a 35 mph speed limit, but the bridge will not be closed to motorists or boaters.

Low-speed vehicles popping up around SW Florida
They can already be spotted crawling around the cities of Anna Maria Island and Sarasota’s keys. For three nights every week, they are creeping around downtown Sarasota.

Next Thursday, Mayor Bob Bartelt of Anna Maria Island will be naming independent recording artist, Mike Sales, the Official Singer of Bradenton Beach at the City Commission meeting. He's already known as Mr. Anna Maria Island, so the moniker would only make sense.

However, the city of Bradenton is about to rein in all this horsing around. City council members are moving to ban horses on the beach and have directed the city attorney to draft an ordinance. Public hearings will be held on the issue in the future.
